License Plate

For the 2011/2012 ski season, we are holding a photo contest with a grand prize of a brand new pair of 182cm Liberty Double Helix skis. For rules on how to enter, click here

The Snowbowl Ski Patrol has recently sponsored a specialty Montana license plate that recognizes the incredible skiing and riding opportunities in Big Sky Country. Now you can proudly display your support for both skiing and riding opportunities while also supporting the Volunteer Snowbowl Ski Patrol.

How much do the Snowbowl Volunteer Ski Patrol "Ski and Board the Last Best Place" specialty license plates cost?

The initial fee to Snowbowl Volunteer Ski Patrol is $20 per plate (and $20 each subsequent year to renew). Your county treasurer charges an additional $20 per plate (for the first year only) to cover administrative costs.

Where does my $20 yearly payment to the Snowbowl Volunteer Ski Patrol go?

We plan to use the funds to support our general operating budget including equipment, trainings, and recruiting new members. As this fundraising program grows and plate sales increase, we hope to contribute to other Northern Division patrols in Montana as well as other organizations, clubs, and events geared toward skiing and boarding in Montana. Our ultimate vision for this project is to have a sustainable income source to support this volunteer organization.

What kind of vehicles can I purchase these specialty plates for?

“Ski and Board the Last Best Place" plates may be issued to passenger cars, pickups, sport utility vehicles and vans only.

Is it possible to transfer my vanity plate characters to a "Ski and Board the Last Best Place" plate?

Yes, if you have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 characters. You may arrange this with your county motor vehicle office.

Hey, I really like this plate a lot but I don't live in or register a vehicle in Montana. Can I get a "Sample Plate" to hang in my shop?

Yes, however; we own the design so you must order sample plates through our patrol You can contact us at snowbowlskipatrol@gmail.com please use the term "Sample Plate" in the subject line of your email. Sample plates will say either "AAA 000" or you may specialize it with up to 6 characters approved by the state of Montana (Ex: SKI MT or CLD SMK). Sample plates have a one time cost of $35.

For more information on specialty plates available visit the Montana Driver Services department of the Department of Justice. Our plate is found in the "Sports and Recreation" category.
