The Snowbowl National Ski Patrol is always in need of people who are
willing to work hard, attend to all requirements, and willing to learn
a lot. We also want someone who is willing to become part of a fun
team, and who will add to the enjoyment of our membership.
The following information is provided to supply answers about becoming
a member of the Snowbowl National Ski Patrol. All costs are
approximate.

Why should you join the Snowbowl National Ski Patrol?
- To receive medical training skills that will aid you in all of your outdoor activities.
- To enhance your downhill skiing skills and toboggan handling.
- To become a member of a cohesive team.
- To feel the joy of helping others.
- To be an ambassador of Snowbowl Mountain.
- To receive one complimentary ski pass for every day that you patrol. This complimentary pass may be given to a friend or relative.
- To have the opportunity to enhance and learn new skills through courses offered to patrollers. Our courses offer information in avalanche training, advanced ski training and basic mountaineering.
- To have the opportunity to ski a great mountain - Snowbowl!
How to become a candidate of the Snowbowl National Ski Patrol.
- Complete this form (and be accepted).
- Attend all sessions for the Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) training course and on-hill training course.
- Attend all yearly patrol mandatory events. These events include, but are not limited to the On-Hill Refresher, OEC Refresher, SOS fair, Opening Day of Mountain and Closing Day of Mountain.
- Participate in the minimum of ten sweep procedures with a trained patroller.
- Pass the required examination set by the national ski patrol and/or local patrol.
What is a "candidate" of the Snowbowl National Ski Patrol?
- A "candidate" is a person interested in completing all the necessary requirements to become a Basic Ski Patroller.
- A candidate will not be allowed to wear a regulation patrol coat with a cross on it. While on the mountain, the candidate will wear a "Patrol Candidate" vest, which is provided by the Snowbowl National Ski Patrol.
- Candidates are not eligible to receive complimentary ski passes.
- Candidates are not allowed to patrol the mountain on weekdays without prior written consent from the NSP patrol director.
What does it cost to become a candidate and basic patroller?
- Yearly dues required by all candidates and patrollers are due by November 18th. There are no exceptions made for the payment of the dues and they are non-refundable should you decide not to be a member of the ski patrol. (Amount of dues is set yearly by membership - 2002 candidate dues are $58.)
- OEC training materials will run about $100 (one-time cost)
- Upon the completion of all candidate training and requirements, and becoming a basic patroller, you will need to purchase
